For more than a decade, KiDz HuB Media Network has believed that young people should not only attend community events — they should document them, report on them, and tell the story of their communities.
That philosophy has been at the heart of our annual coverage of the South Amboy St. Patrick’s Day Parade in South Amboy, where KiDz HuB Junior Broadcasters have spent years interviewing parade participants, capturing performances, and producing youth-led coverage of one of New Jersey’s most beloved Irish celebrations.
Now, KiDz HuB is excited to announce our intention to expand that same style of youth-led storytelling to the Keyport community.

Beginning this year, our Junior Broadcasters plan to bring cameras, microphones, and mobile broadcast kits to the Keyport St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Keyport.
For years, KiDz HuB has used major community events as real-world classrooms for young journalists, media creators, and storytellers.
During our coverage of the South Amboy St. Patricks Day Parade, Junior Broadcasters have learned how to:
Conduct on-the-spot interviews
Capture live event footage
Produce short-form digital stories
Report respectfully on community traditions
Work as part of a live event production team
These experiences help students develop confidence, communication skills, and technical media abilities while engaging directly with the communities around them.
You can see examples of that coverage here:

These videos feature youth reporters interviewing parade participants, community leaders, and spectators — capturing the spirit of the day through the eyes of young storytellers.

Bringing the Same Energy to Keyport
The Keyport St. Patrick’s Day Parade has become a growing celebration for the Bayshore community, bringing together families, local businesses, marching bands, civic groups, and visitors from across the region.

KiDz HuB believes this event presents a perfect opportunity for youth media engagement.
Our Junior Broadcasters plan to cover:
Parade participants and marching groups
Local community leaders
Spectators and families enjoying the celebration
Behind-the-scenes moments along Broad Street
Cultural traditions that make the parade special
Just like in South Amboy, the goal is simple:
Let young people tell the story of their community.

Why Community Events Matter to Youth Media
Community events like the St. Patrick’s Day parades provide a unique learning environment for KiDz HuB students.
They are fast-paced, unpredictable, and filled with real people and real stories — which makes them perfect training grounds for aspiring media professionals.
Through this coverage, Junior Broadcasters practice:
Journalism ethics
Public speaking
Interview techniques
Camera and audio operation
Digital storytelling for social media and broadcast platforms
At the same time, the community benefits by seeing its traditions documented by the next generation.

Looking Ahead
As KiDz HuB continues expanding its youth media programs across New Jersey, New York, and internationally, events like the Keyport St. Patrick’s Day Parade help strengthen our connection with local communities.
Our goal is to build a new generation of storytellers — young people who understand the power of media and who use it to highlight culture, history, and community pride.
So if you see a group of young reporters with microphones, cameras, and big smiles along the parade route this year…
That’s the KiDz HuB Junior Broadcasters at work.
And they’re ready to tell the story.
