About the event

New Jersey Kids Fashion Week

Organizer of New Jersey Kids Fashion Week Presents: "Fashion In Wonderland "

Our organization was formed in May of 2016 and its primary purpose is to reach out to the community and offer kids of all ages the opportunity to experience and explore the different facets of art.  We have a passion for children and believe in investing in our youth early so they can develop and master their skill.  We offer opportunities such as an annual fashion show, trips to the museum, the New York Fashion Institute, art classes, sewing classes, toy drive, feeding the less fortunate and more.   We offer workshops and although we invite children from all backgrounds to be a part of our organization, our primary focus is on those from inner-cities.  With the decline of the arts in inner-cities as a result of budget cuts, many kids in these areas face adversity and are deprived of the opportunity to experience art, find their talent, learn life skills, or even build self-esteem, which are all key components in developing the whole child.  Due to these limited opportunities, this unconstructive time, many youth find other avenues to occupy their time in non-productive and sometimes destructive ways, which can be destructive.  As stated by Colleen O’Dea of NJ Spotlight, “almost one-third of all New Jersey children-646,000- were considered low-income” which is defined as living in a family with an income at twice the Federal poverty limit.  Thus, NJKFW was formed to assist in eradicating poverty and providing assistance to the underserved community.
